One major task that Adobe Photoshop is used for is to improve old pictures. The tools that allow you to enhance old pictures are found in the Image/Adjustments menu. There you will see many tools and options that will improve an old picture. You will have to experiment a lot and try all sorts of different techniques to make these pictures look good.  The trick is to do this and not overdo it so that it looks unnatural.

  1. You may wish to work through or at least look at some of the Old Photo Correction Tutorials here.  Some are pretty good. 25 Tutorials, Hub Pages, AusWebAdobe.
  2. Save the two images on this post.  Resize them if need be to somewhere in the neighbourhood of 7-10 inches wide.  The height will automatically adjust if “Constrain Proportions” is checked on.
  3. Improve the quality of these two pictures so that they look like they did when they were first created.
  4. For each, write one statement explaining the changes that you made to each photo. When you are done, post both the original and the improved images.
